Podcast - Episode 151: Avengers West Coast: VisionQuest

Vision Quest Banner.jpg

We are joined this week by our friend Sean Jordan, aka Wordburglar, and also Alex Kennedy, who we unfortunately did not have a microphone for. We had a good time talking about issue #4 of The Last Paper Route, the comic that is made by Sean, Alex and Dave. We also talked about DCAF, which happened this past weekend, Sean's new album, Rhyme Your Business, Ghost Rider (the 2007 movie), and, of course, our book club selection, VisionQuest, by the lovable John Byrne.

Here is the photographic evidence that Dave did indeed pay Sean $5 to settle their bet that Dave would never watch Ghost Rider.

Well, that's over.

On to VisionQuest!

Here is that panel of Captain America excitedly running out the door when he heard the ADVENTURE ALARM!

And here's Scarlet Witch with a hairpin in her mouth, which I am obsessed with:

Podcast - Episode 131: Dream Casting the New Gods Movie

fourth world.jpg

There's gonna be a New Gods movie (probably)!

Dave has drafted an extensive list of actors he would like to see play his beloved Fourth World characters. I think it's pretty solid.

If you want a quick intro to the New Gods, we recommend watching this three-minute clip from the Superman animated series:

If you want to watch a very awkward, but also very sexy, interview with Sebastian Stan from the set of Infinity War, you can check this out:

My boy can fill out a t-shirt.

And speaking of which, this is the photo I showed Hillary of artist Jorge Jimenez. She did not believe he is a comic book artist, and I can't blame her:

I mean...how? What?!

Anyway, I would totally be down to finish his roughs or whatever.

See you next week!

Podcast - Episode 129: Black Panther

Guys! Black Panther was SO. GOOD.

We have lots of thoughts. And Dave sits down with Leslie Amegavie, a die-hard Black Panther fan who emigrated to Nova Scotia from Ghana, who has even more thoughts! Leslie saw the movie four times during opening weekend, so he's pretty pumped about it.

The movie was seriously so good. I basically never want to hear anyone speak ever again who doesn't have some sort of African accent.

I can't wait to see it again. In particular, I can't wait to see my new king, M'Baku again.

Mmmmmmm'Baku.

Good job, everyone. You made a great movie.

Oh, and yes. I lost my damn mind at that end credits scene. Of course I did.

Episode 127 - The Positive Influence of Super Heroes

21_WF_195.jpg

This week we are talking about the positive influence that fictional super heroes have had on our lives.

But first, we are getting in a fight about the Ant-Man and Wasp trailer.

You wanna see what made Sebastian Stan laugh? It's this!

He's probably still laughing about it. And obsessing over the witty angel who gifted him with such a delightful joke.

Podcast - Episode 123: Comic Book Sequels

Secret_Wars_II_(UK)_Vol_1_32.jpg

Are comic book sequels every any good? Ehn...sometimes. Sort of. We talk about a bunch of them in this episode, good and bad.

We are also joined by Hillary Titley this week to talk about the X-Files, and also about I, Tonya (in what is possibly the loosest segment of 'This Week in Winter Soldier' ever).

Dave and I get into it again over Batman: Year Two. That damn comic is going to end our friendship one day. We did an episode once about things we disagree on, and it got pretty heated.

My thoughts on Batman: Year Two, are well-documented.

Next week we are gonna talk about fandom and reminisce about fandoms we have been a part of and how we feel about fandom in general today.

Podcast - Episode 122: Comic Book Resolutions

new year.jpg

We're back with a brand new theme song, courtesy of Wordburglar! It's awesome! Check out his website and buy all of his music!

We have some 2018 resolution suggestions for comic book publishers, and we get to those in the last part of the episode.

If you want to see what the hell we're talking about when we're describing that 'Create Your Own' Marvel comics thing, here are the details.

And if building a bronze statue of Wolverine in Fort McMurray, Alberta is a cause that is important to you, you can donate to the indiegogo page here.
